Reliable Internet Solution

The best way to keep your home or office internet connection live is by having more than one way for your router to connect to the internet. Typically in the UK you are supplied with a home broadband connection that is over your telephone line. BT Openreach Reach provide Fibre to the cabinet at the end of your street (FTTC).The copper wire to your house from the cabinet is the lost hop for the connection. Some people have fibre direct these days and that still gives them one way of connecting to the internet only.

Keep your internet alive and kicking

In a competitive world of selling home broadband connections it is totally understandable that every supplier goes for an inexpensive router. If it does the job and they can keep the price down great. But usually they will not have a backup connection option.

We supply a router in this case for Val a Draytek 2860LN business class router. This allows us to setup 3 modes of connecting to the ineternet in the event of failure.

So in the solution the primary connection was from Sky Broadband. But this had become a little un -reliable over the past few months and then totally failed and needed a call out. You can imagine the pain this causes.

  1. Step one we attended sooner than BT openreach could respond to setup a 4G solution in the house. This connection will not be wasted as we can use this again later.
  2. Step two, having evaluated the clients needs and assessing the impact of having no internet connection we ordered a new additional broadband line.
  3. Step three, we installed a new Draytek router and installed the 4G sim card in the back of the router. At this time our line had been installed and made live. So using the VDSL port on the front of the router we setup the 2nd connection.
  4. Step four, the BT openreach repair was complete and the Sky Broadband line came back on again. We took a feed from the ethernet port on the Sky router and added it to WAN 2 port on the Draytek. This completed the 3 ways this router could connect to the Internet. [1] WAN1 [2] WAN2 [3] 4G
  5. To complete the installation we setup remote management on our systems with alerts to allow us to repsond quickly and fix any future faults.
